Climate
The overall climate is temperate, with an average temperature of 64 degrees, with an average precipitation of 49.73 inches. The frost free period generally lasts from March 20 to November 12. Winters are usually mild, with little or no snowfall.

Housing
An average of ten homes are constructed in McKenzie yearly, with prices ranging from $30,000 to $100,000 or more. A 148-unit low rent housing development is available. Also, an additional 32-unit middle income housing development was completed in 1991. Rental prices for apartments and houses rage from $125 to $375, depending on the location and type of structure.

Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eastern Star, Lions, American Legion, McKenzie Jaycees, Mason, Rotary, Kiwanis, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Beta Sigma Phi Chapter and Boy and Girl Scout Units.

There are thirty nine churches located in and around McKenzie, with nearly all major religious denominations being represented.

Airport
The Carroll County Airport is located within the McKenzie Industrial Park. The airport has a 5,500 x 100’ runway and is equipped with a rotary beacon, VASI and runway end strobes. Available fuel includes Jet A and A V gas. An Attendant is on duty during the daylight hours, and available 24 hours per day. Also on site is a 80’ x 100’ hangar and tiedowns. NBC-217 and AWOS are now in service. The airport also has a 3,400 parallel taxiway and 8 “T” hangars.

Taxes
There is no state tax on real property. McKenzie's 2004 property tax rate was $1.05 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation and the Carroll County & Special School District 2004 rate was $2.59 per hundred. The state license fee for an automobile (Renewal) is $23.00 plus $10.00 county license, total $33.00. The state charges $41.00 on the first registration. McKenzie's annual "city sticker" is $10.00. There is no sales tax on medicine. Other sales tax is 8.75%.
