McKenzie has a Mayor-Council form of city government. The
Mayor and Council are elected for four-year staggered terms.
Council members are elected by wards.
City Services
Police Department McKenzie Police Department is comprised of one police chief
and 16 officers. The department has six radio cars. The
crime index is 1.20.
Fire Department McKenzie Fire Department has one station, 4 full-time
personnel, 38 volunteers, (1) 1,250 GPM Truck, (2) 1,000 GPM
Trucks, (2) 500 GPM Trucks and (1) Van. Insurance rating is
a class 3.
Street Cleaning Monthly schedule is maintained by city workers.
Garbage Disposal Garbage pick-up is privately contracted. Residential –
Weekly Commercial – Six days per week.
Sanitation McKenzie sewerage system is activated sludge trickling
filter aeration chlorination and is approved by the State
Board of Health. Designed capacity is 2.5 million gallons,
and is operating at 40%.
Planning and Zoning McKenzie has a zoning ordinance and regional planning
commission. The Planning Commission is responsible for all
zoning and planning within five miles of the city limits.
